Philosophy

Jéquavys explores tension through movement.

Each piece begins with an idea, but it isn't complete until it moves. Rotation, shifting forms, and mechanical interaction are used to express ideas that a static object cannot.

The goal is not to explain every meaning. It is to create objects that become more familiar the more they are handled, worn, and understood.

Structure

Every material is chosen for a reason.

Mechanisms are designed alongside gemstones and precious metals so that movement is part of the piece rather than an added feature. Whenever possible, engineering and symbolism are the same thing.

The result is jewelry that is meant to be experienced, not simply displayed.

The Name

Jéquavys is a variation of my own family name.

I wanted the work to have its own identity while remaining connected to where it came from. Rather than giving the name a fixed definition, I prefer that its meaning develops alongside the work itself.

It carries the sound of an unfinished phrase — j’ai qu’à…, “I just have to…” — while also bending a family name that has already been bent by history, memory, and time.
